BA in Peace and Conflict Studies
Social conflict is ubiquitous — it is everywhere! Conflict is a fundamental element of the human condition. Yet, considering the omnipresence of conflict in our daily lives, we should note just how few educated people have even the most basic understanding of what conflict is, not to mention any capacity for critical analysis of its processes and dynamics.
Peace and Conflict Studies balances social-psychological theory and in-depth case study with the aim of inspiring students to use critical reasoning and analytical skills to understand conflict process, dynamics, causes, and outcomes. Knowing how to understand the dynamics of conflict and navigate peace processes are critical skills for the 21st century. Only by understanding the nature of conflict can we build peaceful and supportive communities.
The online Bachelor of Arts in Peace and Conflict Studies degree promotes an interdisciplinary, critical social justice approach to theory-informed practice.
